Touchy Subject In My City

So Mission Viejo decided to display "In God We Trust" as an emblem behind where the City Council sits during City Council meetings. That means the emblem would be nice and big when meetings are televised.

Now I believe in God, and I understand why we would choose to have this emblem on display. However, after living in Mission Viejo for 20 years and knowing that there is (unfortunately) a large population of citizens who are TOO HARD religiously, I feel that having this emblem really is unnecessary and will do more division than unify.

For example, residents on my street have used religion to the point where my boyfriend isn't good because he's Jewish, and they use it as a tool to discriminate against others: having public Bible readings to their kids on their front lawn and if you don't openly accept God or go to church, you're a bad person. These people are the ones that push for the emblem.

It may not seem like a big deal, but if you lived in my city with an open mind, you would understand. I LOVE Mission Viejo. I LOVE my city. I am very, very fortunate to have been able to grow up here and go to these great schools. But it's come to the point where believing in God isn't even enough...you must go to Church. If you're home on Sunday, some little kids call you a witch.

So imagine what people would say if you're in office and vote against displaying "In God We Trust." This would be seen as un-patriotic. However, at times people in my city 1) try to live up to "The OC" and "The Real Housewives of Orange County" (since Coto is the gated community right by my house) and 2) resemble "Pleasantville" sometimes (but now with Moms who don't watch their young kids when they play in the streets and instead go workout or go shopping). There are a lot of people I know who are spiritual or atheist but are good, intelligent, hard-working people.

Honestly, we really don't need to have our emblem....our City Council Chamber looks like a scene out of 1984 already without it (with all the cold, contemporary design and colors and technology).

Read the No Reason.

Finally found the video. Someone should look up the quotes to verify to make sure nothing is out of context.

I've been looking forever for this video. I worked on a post from my home desktop computer and my explorer froze...so I never posted it and couldn't find the video again later!

Wellll I finally found it and wanted to post it for you all! It really just irked me that I couldn't find it again, so now that I have, I figure it's worth putting up at least:

You really do never see an ugly picture of Obama

Because this post got pushed so far back and in light of all the commotion over Obama's explanation for not putting his hand over his heart or wearing the flag pin, I wanted to post something different...so I wanted to back-track you to my other post in case you didn't see it or want to search for it. This is if you want to see Obama yelling at a woman at a question-and-answer round.

DID YOU KNOW THAT DICK CHENEY AND OBAMA ARE RELATED?!!!

Read the story yourself!

It's so calming that they close it with "Every family has a black sheep." Great words. Great words.

Don't believe it still?
Check out:

Obama's poetry as a youngn'

Did you know that Obama started out at Occidental before transferring?
Did you know that he submitted poetry to Occidental's Literary Magazine?

Hopefully, I don't think that's what he got in for. He was probably stoned when he wrote this and thought everyone looked like Apes when he would go to the underground gatherings and talk (I know he did that later in college, but I don't know if he did also at Occidental.... underground meetings were for radical get-togethers I hear).

Underground

Under water grottos, caverns

Filled with apes

That eat figs.

Stepping on the figs

That the apes

Eat, they crunch.

The apes howl, bare

Their fangs, dance,

Tumble in the

Rushing water,

Musty, wet pelts

Glistening in the blue.

McCain's site more like Obama's now

A while back I wrote about the change in John McCain's website to be more welcoming. I have print screens for you to see the difference. The McCain Store is a good example of what the entire old site used to look like.

BEFORE (the whole site was dark and dreary like a 24 episode)

AFTER (more airy and friendly looking...similar to Obama's)

IMPROVEMENTS: 1) They made the site easier visually and localized things.
2) They also got high tech on us with the left side bar transforming into a slideshow with different topics.
3) They included Cindy McCain more on their site and really have you focus and realize that she has a history of doing work
And I have a print screen of Obama's so you can see what I mean. Most of the students in our class said they preferred Obama's and liked the ease of the site and said that McCain's was too dark and serious.

OBAMA's SITE

What's all the big fuss about??

Soooooo I've been hearing all this fuss about Hills saying that she wants to assassinate Obama and all these people saying that they are offended by Hillary saying that she wants to wait around for Obama to be assassinated...
I dug around (not that hard to dig thanks to Das Internet Jaaaa) and found this video:

WAA WAA WAMBULANCE
Was that SERIOUSLY what this was all about? Geeeeeez. This is making something out of nothing. For once, I feel bad for the woman. Anyone finding offense to that probably didn't do a good job analyzing literary works in AP Literature.
PS
Personal thank you to Alex Hershberger for imparting the habit of waa-waa-wambulancing upon me.

Can you name 1 accomplishment Obama has made from the top of your head?

Since past blogs were bumped down, I REALLY wanted people to see THIS.

The Net is great, but easy to take advantage of

The end of the clip hurt my head. Apparently, according to people who saw the interview, and you can also tell from the clip even...

McCainy was asked multiple questions and he was answering the previous one when the vote for Bush question came up.

While I would have loved something more entertaining, I couldn't resist to post on this. While there are many videos that make an impact out there, this one is straight up propaganda to make an impact on people and you can totally tell. At least they tried. If you want a good video, go to my previous post. Those people did a really good job.

At least he corrected himself on the Al Quaeda comment....

So sad. But I have to give credit to people who put this together! We definitely need more bashing on everyone. Then it can be a big party.

There are only 2 things I don't see anything wrong with (everything else is just sad):

1) Iran training extremists error...at least he corrected it (not by himself..but understandable if you get confused while talking about the issue)
2) celebrating his birthday with Bushy....the picture is just of him and Bushy holding a cake...they aren't even sitting down. They're standing up on a desert-y ground. I would be appalled if he were having a birthday party and wearing party hats and all....but there's really nothing wrong with catching a picture of him posing with a cake made for him on his birthday and he's standing outside.

The others, however, are just pathetic.

Honesty is the best policy! Maybe that should be a policy....someone should pass something called "Honesty." Maybe Barack since he hasn't passed a single legislature yet.

I Know How You Can Beat George Bush and His Failed Policies--DONATE TO ME!!!!

E-mail I got from Obama:

Friend --

Defeat the Bush-McCain Fundraising Machine Right now you have a unique opportunity to go head-to-head with George W. Bush.

This week, John McCain and George Bush gathered behind closed doors, away from the cameras, to raise money for McCain's campaign.

McCain used Bush to raise a reported $3.5 million from a group of about 500 Republican contributors.

That's a lot of money that will undoubtedly be used to attack us and make the case to continue George Bush's failed policies.

But I have an idea about how we can match it. And we don't need George Bush.

Right now, someone who has already given once to the campaign is ready to give again -- but only if you make your first donation right now.

If you take the next step and decide to own a piece of this campaign, that supporter will double your gift.

You'll see the name and hometown of the person who matched your donation. And you can even choose to exchange a personal note about why you've decided to support a different kind of politics.

Double your impact -- your donation of $25 will equal $50 for our cause.

Now is the perfect time to make your first donation:

https://donate.barackobama.com/match

As the presumptive nominee of his party, John McCain has had a three-month head start to build his campaign. In that time, he's made his fundraising strategy clear.

In the words of one reporter, the gala fundraiser with Bush was "part of McCain's delicate effort to find the balance between embracing an unpopular president and taking advantage of his huge continuing draw with well-heeled Republicans."

We'll see more of this dance in the weeks and months ahead, but we already know the steps.

As we prepare to take on John McCain, now is our first chance to show that a grassroots movement of people giving only what they can afford can go toe-to-toe with the Bush-McCain fundraising machine.

And with the last three contests of the Democratic primary coming up in the next five days, the resources we're building right now are an urgent necessity.

Help build our movement by making a matching donation today:

https://donate.barackobama.com/match

John McCain can run from the cameras, but he can't hide from the fact that he's aiming to continue George Bush's policies for a disastrous third term.

Let's show that we're ready to take him on.

Thank you,

Barack

For only $250, you can get your own McCain banner!!!!

For example, "Donatelli's for McCain"! For only a two hundred and fifty dollars donation, you can get your OWN personalized banner to display in your office! Don't blame them if you get fired suddenly by your boss who you didn't know really supports Obama.

Oh BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!!

Frank and Becki Donatelli also say:

P.S. This banner is perfect to take along on your next vacation, to display from your cabin, beach house rental or hotel balcony. Follow this link to order your personalized banner right away. Thank you!

Hillary says our donation will be worth double in Puerto Rico.....

She says a group of supporters has agreed to match every dollar she gets....or is it really because she means our dollar is worth more in Puerto Rico??? I wonder who this group of supporters is!

The Mafia!!!! That would be interesting...hmmmmm

Dear Friend,

This Sunday, voters in Puerto Rico will go to the polls and make their voices heard -- the first time the island has played such a vital role in selecting our party's nominee. At this critical moment, I am depending on you to help me make sure they have a choice. We are depending on the voters of Puerto Rico in our fight to secure the nomination.

It doesn't matter what the pundits say. You and I know this race is up to the voters, and I'm going to keep fighting for every last vote. That's why it is so important that we get voters to the polls over the next few days -- and we can't do that without your help.

Over the next four days, we have the opportunity to make history in the Puerto Rico primary -- and win the national primary vote by redoubling our efforts. That's why a group of supporters has agreed to match contributions today from new donors -- meaning every dollar you give is worth double. Your $50 gift is worth $100, your $25 gift is worth $50 -- even a donation as small as $5 will have twice the impact.

Contribute today, and your donation will go twice as far toward helping us make history.

Puerto Rico isn't the only important deadline our campaign faces. The final two races -- in South Dakota and Montana -- are just six days away. And this Saturday marks another crucial end-of-month fundraising deadline.

And with the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee's decision on Florida and Michigan also coming Saturday, there has never been a more important time to keep our campaign moving forward.

We can finish the primary races strong and win the nomination, but only with your help. And because your contribution today is worth double, today is a great time to give.

Double your impact by making a contribution today.

Throughout the course of this campaign, your support has made the difference time and time again. Now we are facing the last few primaries together, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you for everything,
Hillary

As the deadline feels close, I feel everyone wanting just my money. Obama pulls a Hills here.

E-mail from Obama: 5 DONATE LINKS! And they were making fun of Hillary for sounding desperate.

Dear Friend,

Contribute before the May Deadline Only three contests remain in the Democratic primary.

Voters head to the polls in Puerto Rico on Sunday, followed by South Dakota and Montana on Tuesday.

After more than four dozen contests, Barack has won the most votes, the most delegates, and more than half the states. But we still need 48 delegates to secure the nomination.

We're fighting in these critical states and making the preparations necessary to take on Senator McCain.

The financial demands on our immediate horizon are greater than at any point in the campaign so far. We face a critical reporting deadline on Saturday, and your support could make the difference before these last three contests.

Step up and own a piece of this campaign at this crucial moment. Make your first donation of $25 now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/threecontests

The primaries will be over on Tuesday, June 3rd, but there's another important deadline coming up even sooner.

This Saturday at midnight is the financial reporting deadline for the month of May.

Give our campaign a crucial boost before these final contests, and send a message that we are ready to move to the next phase and compete against Senator McCain in all 50 states.

Now is the time to show your support -- make a donation now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/threecontests

This has been a long journey, and it's hard to believe that there are just three primaries to go.

Millions of supporters like you have joined this movement for change and organized in their local communities.

We've reached out to new voters and brought people who had given up on politics back into the process.

The last primary votes will be counted in just six days. Show your support today. Make a donation of $25:

Obama has been getting the most votes...but Hillary said SHE has been getting the most???

As you remember, Hillary's e-mails have been saying that she's gotten the most votes in the history of any Democrat running...maybe we should ask her to define "Democrat" as her husband asked us to "define sex." Maybe her definition of Democrat doesn't include Obama...maybe she considers Obama as part of a Radical Party? OH I KNOW! That's because Hillary probably considers Obama part of some form of Communist Party or Marxist, etc! That's why she's been able to say that she's gotten more votes when it clearly feels like the delegates are swooping to his side.

ok now the e-mail from Chelsea...

Thanks Chelsea. Good luck to your Mom. Now buy me a cookie.

Vote for your favorite design
Dear Friend,

We need your help to make a critical decision -- our next official campaign t-shirt.

We recently launched a contest to design a campaign t-shirt, and I couldn't believe the incredible response. We got thousands of great entries. They were creative, inspirational, funny, and beautiful. It was amazing to see the devotion to my mom's campaign come through in each t-shirt. Thank you to everyone who submitted a design!

It wasn't easy to narrow it down, but we've chosen five we think are particularly great, and now we need your help in making our final decision. Please vote for your favorite design -- the winning shirt will go on sale in our online campaign store.

Please click here to see the finalists and vote for your favorite.

Thanks again for everything you're doing to help my mom!

Go Hillary!

Wow. Got an e-mail from Chelsea. Too bad Obama's daughters are too young to use a computer. Seeing how people would respond..who can turn down little girls? Chelsea's been through college, she's mature and can handle rejection...but 2 little girls..they don't even know what rejection is (so we think)! I think they would win over Chelsea just for being cute. Maybe Obama should start using them to write and say things like:

"Dear Amewica,

I wuv my Daddy. He's a good man. He would be a good Pwesident. If you wuv your Daddy as much as I wuv mine, you understand that you would want your Daddy to be Pwesident too because you think he would do a good job!

Thank you and please vote Daddy for Pwesident.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX muah muah muah,

Obama's Really Cute Daughters

PS
If you don't vote for my Daddy, I'll grow up feeling racism and resentment. We won't talk about it in public, but we are very influence by our Reverend and think he is the smartest man we have ever known! He teaches us about how much we still suffer today. If you don't vote for Daddy, we will understand what Rev. has always meant by racism. So please vote for our Daddy--it's a vote for our future!"

Aaaaaanddd scene.

Apparently, Hills has been winning all along. Dear Friend, Please Give Me Your Money!!!!!

Let's keep winning! We have just three races left, and your help is critical. Let's keep fighting and winning together. Contribute today.
Dear Friend,

I owe our 35-point win in Kentucky yesterday to your incredible support. So let me ask you -- do you think we should let the TV talking heads have the final say in this race? Or should we do what we have always done, and fight together for what you and I believe in?

I have never for one moment forgotten what this race is about -- the millions of people who are looking to you and me for the leadership America needs. It's about getting our economy moving again. It's about bringing the war in Iraq to a responsible end. It's about fulfilling America's energy needs while protecting the planet for our children and grandchildren. It's about making sure that every man, woman, and child in America has health care.

Now we have just three races left, and your help is absolutely critical in these final two weeks. So let's do it. Let's keep fighting and winning together, as we have all along.

Contribute today and let's keep driving toward victory.

Let's talk about the state of this race.

I've won more votes than anyone running for the Democratic nomination in the history of our party. I've won states that will total 308 electoral votes in November -- more than enough to carry the general election. And it is critical that we make certain the more than 2 million voters in Florida and Michigan are heard.

We can let the media decide this race. We can let the pundits be the ones who determine our party's nominee. Or we can listen to the voters. Yesterday, voters in Kentucky joined you in sending a clear message -- this campaign is far from over.

Throughout it all, through the ups and downs of this race, you've been there, supporting me every step of the way. Help me send a strong message that this race isn't over yet.

Contribute now to help us in the final three races.

I'm so proud of what we accomplished yesterday in Kentucky, and of all the victories we celebrated together. We've worked too hard to stop now. Thank you for your incredible support. I don't have to tell you that I couldn't do this without you.

Sincerely,
Hillary

The McCain Update - May 16, 2008

This week, John McCain detailed what America will look like at the end of his first term as president.

Click to watch and read this powerful speech. From our national security, to the economy, health care, the role of government and the service of all Americans, John McCain outlines what is possible when you put the national interest ahead of partisanship; building an America that is safer, freer and more prosperous.

"We cannot again leave our problems for another unluckier generation of Americans to fix after they have become even harder to solve. I'm not interested in partisanship that serves no other purpose than to gain a temporary advantage over our opponents. This mindless, paralyzing rancor must come to an end. We belong to different parties, not different countries. We are rivals for the same power. But we are also compatriots. We are fellow Americans, and that shared distinction means more to me than any other association. I intend to prove myself worthy of the office; of our country; and of your respect. I won't judge myself by how many elections I've won. I won't spend one hour of my presidency worrying more about my re-election than keeping my promises to the American people. There is a time to campaign, and a time to govern. If I'm elected president, the era of the permanent campaign will end. The era of problem solving will begin. I promise you, from the day I am sworn into office until the last hour of my presidency, I will work with anyone, of either party, to make this country safe, prosperous and proud. And I won't care who gets the credit."

Latest Television Ad

Along with John McCain's speech about his presidential vision, we released a new web ad outlining his goals.

The ad includes some of the most important issues to John McCain: stabilizing the Middle East, reducing the threat of nuclear terror, strengthening our border security, advancing energy independence, reforming wasteful spending, delivering choice in healthcare and restoring Americans' confidence in the economy. Click here to watch the ad.

Global Climate Change

John McCain believes we can protect the environment and come up with better solutions for our future. As president, he will establish a market-based system to curb greenhouse gas emissions, mobilize innovative technologies, and strengthen the economy. He will work with our international partners to secure our energy future, to create opportunities for American industry and to leave a better future for our children. Addressing climate change today through a market-based system will also help our country become less reliant on foreign sources of oil.

John McCain's principles for climate policy include:

  • Put in practice scientifically-sound, mandatory emission reduction targets and timetables
  • Implement market-based cap and trade system
  • Minimize costs and work effectively with other markets
  • Spur the development and deployment of advanced technology
  • Facilitate international efforts to solve the problem

McCain Targets Obama for not going to Iraq.

CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser talks about John McCain's attacks on Barack Obama.

McCain supporters need to make sure McCain has nothing before they speak and criticize Obama.

"In Rebuking Minister, McCain May Have Alienated Evangelicals."

Read the full article from The Washington Post here.

Got This in My e-mail

So I checked my inbox today, and found this from Conservative Stephen Frank:

Obama: Tyranists President?
---

The Barack Obama endorsements keep rolling in. Super delegates are supporting him.
Kennedy, McGovern and every leftist in America seems to be supporting Obama.

But he is now gaining the support and encouragement from world leaders. This could
be trouble for McCain.

So far the leader of Hamas has encouraged Barack.

The leader of the Columbian terrorist FARC believes in Barack.

"Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega praised Obama and his political allies as
"laying the foundations for a revolutionary change" in America."

Wow, Barack is quickly gaining the terrorist support world wide. Maybe this is why
he is willing to meet with them? He has their confidence.

Pass this along. Looks like Hillary was right--with this support Obama can not win
in November. Who is the chair of the "Terrorists for Obama", Fidel Castro or John
Murtha?

Our Self-Esteemed is tied in with everything

How easily are people swayed? Even people who are intelligent, open-minded, and think for themselves? Even people who think of themselves as ones who go against the crowd?

The real question is, how much does someone trust in themself...or how much is someone entirely confident in themselves and know themselves well enough that they won't be swayed to find or feel like something is wrong with their bodies when they were fine with it before....

What I'm trying to get at is...say you like yourself. Say you think your body isn't perfect but you're ok with it...or you like it anyway. Now say someone so confident in themself is able to critique you or point something out...it gets you thinking about yourself...everyone wants acceptance, no matter how radical you are.

The real question is, will you let yourself start to critique your own body or personality unneccesarily because of someone else?

Will you start to feel worse than you have before about other candidates or the state of our nation because a charismatic politician says so and makes you believe in so?

Something to ponder.

thoughts.

So I'm thinking about that video from Obama's supporters early on in the race when they had that pole vaulter who "broke the mold." Remember? They had Hills on the big screen and they were alluding that all of her supporters had no minds of their own and there was no diversity.

To remind you, I'll post the vid here:

Now, thinking about what they're saying, and thinking about the more that I find out or see...it's actually quite the opposite. I'm not saying Obama's supporters have no minds of their own. That's quite the contrary. Actually, they DO have minds of their own which is why I believe they supported a candidate that was so different. They (I myself included) became enthralled with this figure and went against the tide or classic politics....

The unfortunate thing is that in trying to be different and celebrate that, really we have become the same...and that's no necessarily a good thing. It's not good when you want something so badly that you are unable to see the facts laid out in front of you. Again, I'll say it...no one enjoys being wrong, but if you realize you're wrong, instead of making excuses and trying to ignore it, it's time to admit it before it's too late...before we realize we really did want someone who had more pride and honor in our country. All countries go through good and bad, but successful countries don't have leaders who believe their country, AS A WHOLE, EVERYTHING INCLUDED, should be looked down upon.

I'm a middle child...so I'm all for levying things and coming to an agreement, but I also know my history and I also will go against the tide when it's not popular to do so.
It will not be good to have a leader with:
1) extremely radical ties and we see nothing wrong with that now
2) charismatic and persuasive personality combined with above fore mentioned and below
3) no real experience with anything...not even his profession of law or even passing a bill (all senators introduce bills. Study state government.)
4) abrasive when questioned or hears what s/he doesn't want to hear...even to a common citizen
5) no real pride, faith (not necessarily religious), and honor in the country which gave us all a chance to build ourselves lives in which we are responsible for, combined with openly showing it and being highly charismatic and persuasive.

wow pretty confusing. I had to watch it 3 times to get all the info in!

To give you a heads up, the caption reads: "Barack Obama Caught Lying On Army Captain At Texas Debate"

Interestinggg

Asking New Yorkers around Times Square to name 1 accomplishment by Barack Obama.

Don't think many at UCI have seen this

I think it would be interesting to call out supporters of each candidate and ask them to think of 1 legit accomplishment on the spot.

At least this one is MSNBC

oh dear. part II from Fox

Part II from Fox: Asking supporters to name 1 accomplishment made by Barack Obama. Part II because this time, people have a head up to expect this question.

Would have loved to hear the rest of it and what the guy said after.

Of course, from Fox but the video is priceless.

Yes, this if from Fox, the Conservative station which obviously opposes the Liberals, BUT they do make a good point. I suppose if CNN isn't going to expose this side of one of the Democratic candidates, someone had to make a point. A good one too.

They ask Obama supporters to name 1 accomplishment Barack has made. (Part 1)

I've had so many things on my comp I've wanted to post or say, so for convenience's sake, I'll do it one after another.

Interesting. To be fair, I'm going to go find Hillary stuff. I wanted to reiterate that the only reason why I've been posting all about Obama is because I am just so surprised by all that I find or hear since I never hear about any of these from my friends or relatives who support him. I think it's because I liked him in the beginning and started seeing him as a bad choice once I laid all the facts out and put my emotion aside. This is all because I'm amazed by everything since you never hear about "the other side" at school (youngins are his huge support). So I guess I'll exhaust everything that has been new, surprising info and then move on to the others.

It's because you already know about all of the bad he others have and rarely ever hear about this candidate, but to be fair, I will post on Hil and McCain too after I've posted everything from my list of things on Word.

Under the gun?

What happens when things don't always go the way you want it to? Wanting to be President is a trade-off, knowing that people expect you to be poised since you're representing so many people and ideals.

Was this the right way to handle this woman? If you ask a presidential candidate what his or her plans are and how they expect to achieve it, you want answers, right? If you're on the fence about picking someone, you want answers to help you decide, right? So is it out of line for a candidate to scold, yell at, and punish a voting citizen for seeking answers in a question and answer round?

I think so. I wouldn't want to fear being oppressed or discriminated against for being curious, having questions, seeking answers, and having my own mind. This is ironically more Brave New World than I was expecting it to be--esp. since there was that video from Obama's camp that criticized Hillary supporters for not thinking on their own.

See if you can spot the difference!

I'm not talking about Obama this time...at least, I'll get to that later.

I'm talking about the singer. The one that's just a picture on tv with the anthem playing is Whitney, and the live recording is a beached whale singing.

PS Ignore whatever the video titles say. I just want you to hear.

2 things

This blogger is definitely worth checking out. She has some interesting things to say. However, there are qualms I have with one of her posts, titled "What kind of President do we want?" where you can insinuate that reference to a President who shoots a gun and belts black whiskey is McCain. The other reference insinuating McCain is, "A person who never went to school past the age of 18, or a person who spent years learning how to gain knowledge?"

2 things:

  1. Nothing wrong with a President who can shoot a gun. Technically, I would hope that if we send a soldier to war, he or she knows how to shoot a gun!
    1. Also, you have to consider the state he's from and what is socially acceptable there: Arizona, lots of desert. Lots of back land; remember, think "Western life" in AZ in the 1800s.
    2. You also have to realize that CA is lucky to be a) so incredibly diverse, b) have lots of suburban and city areas where shooting a gun is likely to hurt someone due to proximity. ("By 1964, California had surpassed New York to become the most populous state. One reason for this may be that more immigrants settle in California than any other state." Don't think many people feel comfortable with giving immigrants guns, plus there are lots of famous people who could be assassination targets by crazed fans...Hollywood)
    3. ALSO, think back to how many past Presidents of the US shot guns (and drank whiskey) ever since George Washington and you'll find trying to make something out of nothing.
  2. Carol failed to consider that McCain FINISHED high school and then went to the UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY and graduated in 1958 THEN graduated from flight school in 1960 and later fought in the Vietnam War (duh), where he unfortunately could not receive a law degree and not practice it like Obama.
    1. Because all the men in McCain's family has a history of being in the military, it's no wonder that he changed schools whenever his dad was transfered to another base and, overall, attended about 20 schools.
    2. Had he not even attended the Naval Academy and just enlisted and been drafted into war, that also wasn't scoffed at in the 60s and 70s. Education isn't as readily available as it is now, and not everyone went to college. Then, you could still find a decent job with a High School Diploma, and college was more of a "choice." It is arguable that college is less of a choice now and more of a "necessity" and assumption, esp. with the competitiveness of school and availability for education to everyone (immigrants worked hard to give their children a better life, no child left behind, financial aid, Affirmative Action, etc.). It will be hard to find a decent job without some form of a college degree.
  1. In essence, this post of hers is whack. The End.

McCain's Site Part I

So I recently noticed a drastic change in McCain's website. It's funny because we JUST did a research report/paper on what we thought about each Presidential candidate's site. The majority of the class didn't like McCain's because it was dark and dreary and (similar to Hill's) all the information seemed to be in one spot, cluttering the page.

I got an e-mail 3 days ago (that I didn't check until today) saying "This week we relaunched JohnMcCain.com with new features and tools for supporters like you to use. Along with the new design of the site, there are new ways to get involved, recruit your friends and spread the word about John McCain."

So I checked it out and 1st, the background is no longer black with gray stars. It's more a more cheerful but still serious and presidential (and ironically the Democrats' color of choice) blue with stars!

Don't believe me? Check it out here and if you've seen his site before, you'll instantly see how much more inviting it is now.

Laptop Wouldn't Post This Last Night

Those "connect to Internet" things are so annoying. Sometimes they make me give up trying to use the Internet, so my apologies for not being able to get this up last night: was reading through my old Newsweek from Feb 08 and how Ike's granddaughter supported Obama. I wonder if Eisenhower and other Republicans who swung that way have changed their minds due to radical happenings.

Now it seems to break down to this:
Obama will bash McCain for being a "Bush clone" who wants an endless war and to make the economy stagnant.

McCain will rebut that Obama never served in a uniform and that he has the experience for everything.

Man, and we though Bush/Gore amd Bush/Kerry was epic!

Man oh Man...it keeps getting worse :(

I know I said I promised to post at least 1 a day, so I wanted to clarify that THIS is still my day. It's 2:41 AM, which literally is the next day, but for me, it's still part of MY day since MY day hasn't ended yet...thus, I am writing in bed before my day officially comes to a close!

OBAMA ON NOT ACCEPTING $$$$$ FROM OIL COMPANIES:

From Hillary's FactHub:

"It’s unfortunate that Senator Obama is using false advertising to explain why he can be trusted to do something about energy prices. Senator Obama says he doesn’t take campaign contributions from oil companies but the reality is that Exxon, Shell, and others are among his donors. I wonder if they’ll fix the ad.” – Clinton Campaign Spokesman Phil Singer

A new ad by Sen. Obama running in Pennsylvania falsely claims that Sen. Obama does not accept money from the oil industry. In the ad, Sen. Obama says "I'm Barack Obama and I don't take money from oil companies or lobbyists and I wont let them block change anymore."

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Sen. Obama has received over $160,000 from the oil and gas companies. Two major bundlers for his campaign -- George Kaiser and Robert Cavnar – are oil company CEOs. Sen. Obama has accepted money from Exxon, Shell, BP, Chevron and just about every other major oil company.

In 2005, Sen. Obama voted for the Dick Cheney energy bBill, which Cheney wrote in secret with the oil industry. Hillary Clinton opposed Cheney's energy bill, has a plan to eliminate oil industry tax breaks, and would require oil companies to contribute to a $50 billion strategic energy fund to jumpstart research and investment in clean energy technologies.

BECAUSE THIS COULD BE BIASED SINCE IT'S HIS OPPONENT, I CHECKED OUT SOME OTHERS. AMONG THEM, FactCheck.org:

Soooo From the Tillman Act of 1907, ALL Corps are prohibited from contributing directly to ALL federal candidates.

Also, because the gov doesn't require reporting donations less than $200, those aren't included..

I'd LOVE to believe that this kind of honesty is possible, but the facts are there and people need to realize that being fooled by someone they care about and want so much good for happens often, and there's no shame in giving trust and being initially infatuated with someone so much that you want to believe in them. We all have that and I really hope everyone realizes it soon, because those kind of relationships never end well for the person giving all trust.

So In Other News...

I just wanted to note that Obama changed his military advisor. I actually haven't heard anything official myself or anyone talk about it, but I found out from our guest speaker because I asked him what he thinks about the (original, intended) advisor. He thinks this new guy would be very good. I suppose you don't hear about it because it would be reminding OR introducing people to how bad the guy Obama wanted would have been. It would be very smart on his part to not mention this in his campaign.

Good night!

I know it sounds like I'm bashing Obama but...

I know it sounds like I'm bashing Obama, but it's just because he
seemed really great in the beggining and I did want him to beat out
Hillary and now he's become sucha clear disappoinment for me. It's
almost like I'm the only one in my age group (college student) who can
see all the facts obviously and I'm the only one who thinks about
Obama this way.

Then again, I have always had a mindset and thought process way more
mature and I always think of things in terms of far into the future. I
also have never followed trends or given in to peer pressure or had
self-esteem issues for not agreeing with other people. And you know
what? In the end, I usually end up being right and always end up
setting the trend way before and other people do it after me. So
hopefully, people will start to realizw that this Obama trend is as
bad they have been duped as trapeze dresses.

SORRY for the big delay!!!

Don't you love how I started posting so early but all of a sudden stopped? Man do these days fly by! My most sincere apologies for not posting in some time. The last few weeks were crazy with 2 O-Chem midterms, Bio midterm, OTHER Bio (upper division) midterm, Student Government elections, Wayzgoose, etc. etc. Anyway, it all comes with trying to double major and minor and be involved on campus.

Sooooo I PROMISE that I will post at least 1 post EVERY day from now on until the due date of this Poli Sci Blog!

In other news, I wanted to briefly comment on Obama and his military advisor. Among many of the reasons why having Israel return to the pre-1967 borders is such a big deal is that Jerusalem would be divided and Israel would also lose key military bases. They already gave up key military bases in a compromise for peace with Egypt before (then Egypt's leader was assassinated by his own people for agreeing on peace with Israel, ending with the two states in a "cold peace") when the other Arab states agreed to "ignore" that Israel even existed as a state. Sure, Israel seems huge with all of the infrastructure and technology that comes out of it and also with all of the aid and support they give other countries...but remember that in reality, this state is surrounded on all sides by dominantly larger states where the majority of the population want to "eradicate the ignominy that has been with us since 1948."

So what good do you think can come of this? Do we want to believe in a President who will support this? Even if he changes his military advisor, starting out with someone so radical only means he himself MUST believe in the same ideals in order to hire the guy (of all the people qualified to advise militarily) in the first place! What happened to integrity and respect and honor. The only way for countries to respect the US again is if we stop 1) being ignorant and start being realistic and 2) have integrity and show how honorable we are.
